Love at first bite

The Nando’s story begins in 1987, when Fernando Duarte invited his friend, entrepreneur Robbie Brozin, to sample the signature PERi-PERi marinated chicken at a restaurant in Rosettenville. It was love at first bite. The two joined forces and purchased the restaurant. Their focus was sourcing fresh local ingredients as well as the PERi-PERi sauces that would become the centrepiece of the restaurant chain they named Nando’s, after founding member Fernando. Within a few years they had four outlets, 3 locally and one in Portugal.
